  1. Hi! My name is Gasly Gelin. I am a student at Stem Academy. I have a deep passion for computers, and I want to major in web development. Basically something in the computer science field. My favorite sports are soccer, basketball, and tennis. My favorite tv shows are Teen wolf, the originally, the flash,The Big Bang theory, and twisted. If I'm not able to major in computer science, I would like to be a filmmaker/Director. James Cameron and Michael bay are my two favorite filmmakers , but mainly Michael bay. I can't say that I have a favorite movie, because I have too many.

I used to wrestle, I played soccer, and I won the Science fair back in 8th grade. I beat Mr. Azcona student and won first place. I participate in the Verizon innovation contest, sadly I did not win, but it was Worth it. I also have a deep love and understanding for cgi, mainly the reason why I want to be a filmmaker.

  2. Greetings, everyone! Mr. Henry here. I am a humbly happy math teacher at EO STEM Academy. I am truly lucky to be able to enjoy a career doing what I love best...teaching and molding the young minds and future leaders of tomorrow. I like to think of myself as a life long learner and would love to impart that ideal into the minds and hearts of many, if not all, of my students.
Outside of work, I have rather simple interests. I enjoy reading, working out, listening to music, playing tennis (when the weather is appropriate for it, of course), and eating great food from a variety of different cultural backgrounds. Although I am not an avid fan of the telly, I do enjoy the occasional series on Netflix (preferred genres include, but are not limited to: action, comedy, and sci-fi). If anyone has suggestions on worthwhile books and/or series, please do not hesitate to make suggestions.
I am looking very forward to sharing and gaining different perspectives from engaging in this book club and hope for an interesting and lively exchange of ideas that will make those involved all the better for having taken part.

  5. Hi, my name is Muhammed Waggeh a student currently at STEM Academy and this is my last year before i venture off into college and hopefully into the world. I was born May 22, 1997 in a hospital i believe was in East Orange or could have been Newark, never really asked my parents about that but i have lived in east orange all my life and i have learned many things in these streets. I am the second oldest in a family of 7 children so i am always looked up to in something. My parents were born in Gambia, West Africa and moved here somewhere in the early 90s looking for the american dream. In elementary school i had attended Ecole Touisaint Louveture and in middle school i attended John L. Costley for two years and then transfered to Soujerner Truth because the schools merged according to grade level. Now im a proud student at STEM and i loved every minute of it(minus the work and tests) but when i graduate in two months im going to miss the teachers and staff. Ill be attending either NJIT or Rutgers in the future and will be studying something along the lines of anything computer related since ive always been facinated with the endless possibilities of technology. Not only technology but just anything pertaining to knowledge in general, so when i don't know something my mind is drawn to know anything about it and ill try to understand different ideas and views on things. Also i enjoy just looking at historical things that happened because I've always wondered how the world progressed to where it is and what courses it will take in the future. If in the future i dont become something computer related then ill just be a religious scholar spreading the good word out to those in need.

  8. Hi, my name is Jaukeel Carvan. I am currently a senior at STEM Academy high school. I was born in Georgetown, Guyana on July 20, 1997, In 2004 my family and I moved to East Orange, New Jersey. Since I came to America at such a young age I know very little of my Caribbean heritage. I guess you could say I've adopted an "American" mindset. I enjoy playing video games, watching/playing sports and researching the unknown. I also value other people perspectives on different topics, one of the reasons I joined the book club.

  9. Hi, my name is Walter Outing 3. I am currently a sophomore at STEM Academy high school. I love basketball, football, video games, and education. I really wanted to go to the NBA when I grew up, but people over the years were telling me I had to have a backup plan. So, my backup plan if I don't make the NBA I really either want to be a Firefighter or a veterinarian. I love my family and they love me. I hope this club will influence me to join more clubs that are great like this one.

  11. Hola mi gente! This is Mr. Delfin Santiago, Teacher of Music here at STEM Academy. I was born and raised in Newark and I attended their Performing Arts High School, which is the 1st ever nationwide. I went on to obtain my Bachelors of Music Education (Saxophone) at the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University. From there, I decided to return to the urban school districts of NJ to motivate and pass on my knowledge to the upcoming youth of NJ. When I have some leisure time, I like to perform various music gigs and volunteer for the homeless and those with mental/physical disabilities. I extensively enjoy bike riding, working out, and traveling to new places exploring all those places have to offer. I eagerly look forward to expanding my knowledge and gaining the perspectives of others within this group. Let's see where the wonders of reading takes us and hopefully we can all provide insight on the various discussions to be had in the future!
